Frequently Asked Questions
How accurate are these calculators?
Our calculators use industry-standard measurements and are accurate to within 5-10% for most projects. We've built in buffers to ensure you always have enough materials. Actual bead counts can vary slightly based on bead brand, tension, and individual beading style.
How many beads do I need for a bracelet?
A standard 7-inch peyote stitch bracelet that's 1 inch wide using 11/0 Delica beads typically needs around 1,400-1,600 beads. Use our calculator above for exact counts based on your specific dimensions and bead size.
What's the difference between Delicas and regular seed beads?
Miyuki Delica beads are cylinder-shaped with thin walls and large holes, while regular seed beads are more rounded. Delicas create a flatter, more uniform surface and fit together more precisely, which is why they're preferred for peyote and brick stitch. They also have different bead-per-inch counts.
How do I convert bead counts to grams for shopping?
Our calculator automatically converts your bead count to grams. As a general reference: 11/0 Delicas average ~190 beads per gram, 11/0 seed beads average ~110 per gram. Tubes typically contain 7-8 grams.
Why do different stitches need different amounts of thread?
Each stitch type creates different thread paths through the beads. Right Angle Weave uses the most thread because you pass through each bead multiple times in different directions. Loom work uses the least because the thread travels in straight lines. Peyote and brick are in between.
